30 days????

Just a quick note to say things are going well, and I'm still loving the house. My 30 day should be coming up soon, but I haven't heard from anyone. I have, however, been making a list and checking it twice :)  Not too many things on the list that need to be resolved - I'm happy to say that they are all pretty minor. I really can't believe it's been 30 days??? Where does the time go? Such a huge difference when you are waiting for approval, or waiting for the big dig....where 'flying time' then, when you need it? Ha!

And as expected, my mortgage was sold before the first payment! I'm now a Wells Fargo customer. I have no experience with them, so hopefully it will be a great relationship.

Good luck to everyone - wherever you may be in this crazy journey, I wish you God speed!!

  1. lol that was fast. Hopefully Wells Fargo will treat you well. It's a great company as I've heard.. How long does it take for the first payment to be due from the time of settlement?

    1. Glad you've heard good things about Wells Fargo, and thanks for sharing! :)

Usually you skip a month (well, not really 'skip' - you pay for that month at settlement). So I closed on 8/14, and my first payment is due 10/1.

    2. That's what I heard too.. Takes about 6-8 weeks..
We are bit too late to enter the real estate game so by the time we could lock in rates, the rates had gone back and our 30yr monthly payment became almost as same as 15 yr monthly at the time of our first GFE back in March.. Yikes.
But I guess we are still very lucky since our parents paid double digit interest rates while we pay under 5% :)

  2. Glad to hear form you Stacey and that you're enjoying your Savoy! We're still waiting to get our keys (less than a month to go), but now it seems like we're scrambling to make sure all our ducks are in a row! I'm sure Wells Fargo will treat you well. I'm just hoping our loan gets sold to a company that has offices in the area (in case we ever need to actually speak to someone in person or send original copies of anything in).

  3. We've had one issue with Wells Fargo, but that may be because of the time of year we settled (April). Tax time was June. They didn't pay our taxes, so we paid them (half due in July). Then they paid them. Took us 6 months to get our money back. Then they didn't pay the second half in December and we got a notice from the county and late charges. Hoped things would go better this year. They didn't pay them in July again, and sent us a huge refund and lowered our house payment considerably because we had too much in escrow (because they hadn't paid our taxes)! Had to call them and remind them they were responsible for paying our taxes. Finally got that all straightened out. Can't wait until the next time taxes are due to see what happens. That being said, they have been very nice on the phone and easy to deal with.

By the way, love your brick with the shutters!

    1. Thank you for sharing your Wells Fargo story...interestingly enough, I just got a check in the mail from NVR for close to 5k. It was supposed to pay for an 'improvement' tax (since it used to be taxes on just land, but now there's an 'improvement', known as my house!). The letter stated that the tax isn't due yet, so they couldn't pay it. I suppose this money wasn't a part of the escrow. As much as I'd like to go shopping, I'll hold on to the cash and see what shakes out. I certainly don't want to have any tax/escrow issues. I agree that the customer service is great - I've called once and it was very pleasant. The lady I spoke with did mention that if I received a tax bill, to be sure to call them immediately and make sure they received it as well. In the end, I just want that 5k to me MINE all MINE. Lol (it's doubtful).

Thanks for the compliment on the brick! I'm still all giddy every time I pull up to the house. :)

    1. Hola Chica!! Thank so much for the congrats. :) I will do a separate post about the list, so it will be easy to find, but it's minor stuff...caulking in the bathrooms, chips (a few) in the hardwoods...I'm forgetting something - I've got a list at home that I'd started making so I wouldn't forget stuff. I'll post it soon.

    1. Thanks for the info....I will contact my PM in the next few days. I'm kind of dreading it, since I really don't want to have to take off work for them to fix stuff. Not that it's a lot of stuff, but still. Thanks again!!
